Morrigan’s Brood Series

From Triscelle Publishing comes a page dedicated to the Morrigan’s Brood Series, its cornerstone novel and short-story offering. The Morrigan’s Brood Series is a historical fantasy / epic fantasy / fantasy adventure series set in our ancient history. It incorporates mythology from cultures the world over. This website contains mile markers that will help you along your journey through the Morrigan’s Brood Series, as well as occasional campsites where you can rest your weary feet. But do not fret, for the moon on the horizon is beckoning you onward.

Welcome to the Morrigan’s Brood Series!

Much of our ancient history has been lost to us, either hidden away in some dusty vault deep underground or deliberately eradicated, like a book thrown into fire. Ever wonder why history is known as it is? How do we know history occurred as we’ve been told? Did the people in those tomes of lore actually perform their deeds of valor or cruelty as written? Did events actually unfold in the way scribbled down by scribes and monks in our ancient history?

Or, is history being hidden? Real history… not what was written, but what actually happened…

Why has history been hidden and is still being hidden today?

A Blood-Drinker Did It!

The Morrigan’s Brood Series tells the tale of races of blood-drinkers, mythological beings derived from the Gods and Goddesses of cultures throughout the ancient world, who manipulate the course of human events from night’s sweet embrace.

And they don’t sparkle!

Come, begin your journey through Morrigan’s Brood Series. If you’ve already begun, then explore the books you’ve read, delve into the characters, seek out the places, and explore the history and mythology that is the backdrop for the Morrigan’s Brood Series!

Authors Christopher Dunbar and Heather Poinsett Dunbar wrote this little poem as a way to explain the Deargh Du in the mythology and in our story. Morrigan is seen as the Great Balancer, among other things. The Balance is the Celtic belief that all of existance is like a large, round disk balanced upon a single fulcrum in the middle. Forces constantly exert themselves upon this disk to topple it into the void below. Morrigan, however, applies equal and opposite pressure to help maintain the balance. Yes, this is an overly simplistic and physics-base analogy, but it is one I hope that has at least brought understanding if not curiousity. The Deargh Du, then, are Morrigan’s instruments for maintaining the Balance. The Balance must be maintained!
